Fall TBR

Fall TBR

Hey there,

I have been neglectful by not posting anything for a while. I swear I will get the hang of this blogging thing and be consistent because it is something that I enjoy. I just need to use my time more wisely.

I did a seasonal TBR for Summer and I think I prefer that to a monthly TBR. I have picked out twelve books to read this Fall a couple of them are from my page habit subscription since I have yet to read any of those books. Most of the books are thrillers and historical fiction but I also have a couple of young adult.

The Hypnotist by Lars Kepler

Fall TBR

This book cover is super creepy and I think Fall would be a great time to finally start this series.

Set in Sweeden detective Joona Linna is investigating a triple homicide that left one survivor, a young boy. The boy is recovering from stab wounds and is in shock after witnessing his family brutally murdered. Detective Linna enlists the help of Dr. Erik Maria Bark to hypnotize the boy in hopes of finding the killer.

Every Last Lie by Mary Kubica

Fall TBR

I am surprised that I haven’t devoured this book yet because I am a huge fan of Kubica’s work. I recently read all her books and love them. This one sounds like it is going to be just as good as her previous books, can’t wait.

The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter

Fall TBR

This is another book that I can’t believe I haven’t read yet. To be honest I don’t even know what this is about but I really want to read it. My problem is I have too many books and not enough time. Will def make this one a priority and read soon.

Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips

Fall TBR

I received this in my quarterly book box subscription and I want to start reading the books when I get them but first need to start the ones I have. I am interested in reading the annotations from the author and think it will give it a unique reading experience.

All I know about this book is a mother sees something that makes her go back into the zoo with her son and hides out in the zoo. I am not sure what she sees or who is after her and her son but am intrigued to find out.

You by Caroline Kepnes

Fall TBR

I have heard great things about this book and look forward to reading it this fall. You is told from the perspective of a stalker as he becomes obsessed with a girl and from what I hear you start to sympathize with him. Sounds very intriguing.

Christine Falls by Benjamin Black

Fall TBR

I have tried listening to this on audio book but wasn’t really into it. I am hoping that I will have better luck with reading it. It does sound like a great crime noir novel.

Quirke works in the morgue and starts investigating the death of a girl, Christine Falls. after he find his brother-in-law tampering with the body and records. His investigation leads him to some dark secrets of Dublin’s Catholic high society including some of his own family.

All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr

Fall TBR

This has been sitting on my shelf unread for far too long and I am determined to get to it this fall. I love a good World War II story and I have heard great things about this. Also, it won the Pulitzer Prize so must be great.

This is about a blind French girl and a young German solider and their lives become connected some how. I am sure it will be an emotional story that will have me in tears.

The Fires of Autumn by Irene Nemirovsky

Fall TBR

Suite Francaise bu Irene Nemirovsky is a favorite book of mine and this book has been said to read like a prequel to it, even though it isn’t really. It isn’t a short book so should be able to read it fairly fast.

The Underground River by Martha Conway

Fall TBR

Another book from my page habit subscription that I want to get to soon. This one is about a floating theatre that is used to to free slaves.

The King’s Curse by Philippa Gregory

Fall TBR

This book has been sitting on my nightstand since the beginning of the year and I keep pushing it back on my TBR to pick up other books. I really do want to read it is just a bit daunting because its over 500 pages.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas

Fall TBR

I am not as a huge fan of the series as everybody else seems to be but I do want to finish the series and think it will make for a great Fall read.

Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan

Fall TBR

The main character in this book wants revenge for the death of her loved ones. This seems like a darker YA novel that will also be perfect for fall.

There you have it all twelve books I will be reading this fall. I might pick up other books as well as I do have a few other books that have been sitting on my night stand for awhile now. Seriously, too many book, soo little time. What books are you planning on reading this fall?

Summer Vacation TBR

Summer Vacation TBR

I am leaving for vacation tomorrow and I plan on bring a few books with me and thought I would share what books I will be taking with me. This is a bit repetitive since I did mention these books in my monthly TBR but I wanted to do it anyways.

I am going to be on  summer vacation for 11 days and am going to Vancouver and Calgary. I am so excited! 😀 I have been to both these cities many times before but I just love it there so much. I don’t know how much reading I will get done but I am bringing five books with me.

Every Last Lie by Mary Kubica

This is the latest book by Kubica and I recently finished reading all her previous books and think she is a very talented writer. So, I am very much looking forward to getting to this one while on vacation.

Summer Vacation TBR

The Lost Girls by Heather Young

August TBR and Currently Reading

It is close to the middle of the month but I still would like to share my TBR for the month.

So far this month I have read two books and am currently half way through two others. I still have a few books left on my Summer TBR that I really want to get to. Plus I also want to get to five other books as well. Needless to say I have an ambitious TBR this month.

Summer TBR

We’ll Always Have Summer by Jenny Han

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

The Last Camellia by Sarah Jio

Almost Famous Women by Megan Mayhew Bergman

The Good Sister by Jamie Kain

Firefly Lane by Kristin Hannah

The Invention of Wings by Sue Monk Kidd

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn

This is the Historical Fictionistas book club pick for August and I have been part of this group on Goodreads forever and never participated. But I noticed that this was the book they would be reading and I recently bought it and really want to read it soon, so seemed like the perfect time to participate in the book club.

Every Last Lie by Mary Kubica

The latest release from Mary Kubica and I enjoy her books and am excited to get to it this month.

The Shadow Land by Elizabeth Kostova

I was highly anticipating this book and I still haven’t read it and it came out in April. I need to fix this and finally read it.

The Lost Girls by Heather Young

My Grandma gave this book to me last year and I am going out to visit here this month and feel like I should read this before I leave to B.C.

What We Find by Robyn Carr

Another book my Grandma gave to me that I also want to read before I leave on the 23rd.

Currently Reading

It’s Not Summer Without You by Jenny Han

I am half way through this book and I want to finish it today but not sure if I will have the time. It is an easy read so if I do get the time it won’t take long to finish.

Pretty Baby by Mary Kubica

I wanted to read this Kubica book before I started with her newest book and that way I will have read all her previous books. I’ve partly listened to this on audio and partly read it. So far I am loving it and look forward to the big reveal.

Birthday Book Haul

Birthday Book Haul

My boyfriend took me book shopping for my birthday and I picked up 16 books, all at a great price. Seriously, the best present a booklover could get. 😀 And even better Chapters was having a plum points bonus promotion going on, where if you bought 5 books you would get 4,500 points which equals to $10 . I now have $50 in points and I’m am close to the $100 mark so, I am not going to redeem them just yet. Anyways lets get on to the books…

Jane Eyre By Charlotte Bronte

The Ambassadors and The Turn of the Shrew Henry James

Birthday Book Haul

They had a small selection of these Arcturus classic editions at 3 for 10. I was happy to see that they still had a few of these floating around because I like how each of the books are similar with the circle, colourful and the graphics.

Persuasion by Jane Austen, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Beast of No Nation by Uzodinma Iweala

Birthday Book Haul

Again these three books were part of the 3 for 10 and I figured this was a good way to get 5 book for cheap to get my plum points.

Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein

This is the second book in the Code Name Verity Duology. I haven’t read the first one yet but this was only $6 and in hardcover so I had to pick it up and I will eventually read it. This series is a historical fiction set during WWII and follows a girl fighter pilot.

Birthday Book Haul

The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall

I heard great things about The Conspiracy of Us and found it for only $6. It is about a secret society called the circle who are the world elite. Which is giving me Illuminate vibes. Sounds like it will be an interesting read.

Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan

Birthday Book Haul

This is a book about revenge and was cheap, so thought I would pick it up. It is about a girl who wants to get revenge for the death of her family.

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

Birthday Book Haul

This was on sale for 40% off and even thought I haven’t read Lady Midnight, I know that I will eventually buy it and so figured might as well buy Lord of Shadows while it is on sale.

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn

For some reason this book reminds me of The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and that is the main reason why I picked it up.

The Alice Network is a dual time line set in WWI and WWII and is about a female spy who is part of the Alice Network in France. I plan on reading this very soon.

Birthday Book Haul

A Dangerous Inheritance by Alison Weir

Found this book in the bargain section for $8 and is about Katherine Grey and Kate Plantagenet and also about the mystery sounding the two Prince’s in the tower. I love reading about the Tudor history and hope this will be a great read.

The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon

I’ve really been in to reading thrillers lately and I found a couple in the bargain section. Which is pretty much where I do all my book shopping.

The Winter People is about Ruthie and her family as they just moved to an old farmhouse in Vermont. The farmhouse has a tragic past because in 1908 Sara Harrison Shea was found dead on the property. After Ruhie’s mom goes missing she finds Sara’s diary and gets sucked into the mystery of Sara’s death.

Birthday Book Haul

All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker

A psychological thriller about a girl, Jenny Kramer, who gets attacked at a party but can’t remember anything after she is given a drug that erases the memory of the attack. This sounds interesting and is going to be made into a movie.

Keep You Close by Lucie Whitehouse

Keep You Close is also a psychological thriller that follows Rowan Winter as she tries to uncover the truth behind her friend, Marianne Glass’s, death.

Birthday Book Haul

Every Last Lie by Mary Kubica

This is the latest novel from Mary Kubica and I really enjoyed The Good Girl and Don’t You Cry by her and can’t wait to read this one.

Clara Solberg’s daughter survives a car crash that killed her husband and is believed to be a accident but her daughter begins having night terrors that leads her to think it might not have been an accident.

There you have it all the 16 of the books I picked out for my birthday gift.

Summer TBR

Summer TBR

Happy First Day Of Summer!!!

Can you tell how excited I am? Summer is my favourite season and now it’s officially here. To celebrate the first day of summer I will be sharing 12 books that I want to read this summer.

Second Chance Summer by Morgan Matson

Summer TBRThis book has summer in the title, so, of course I need to read it during summer. Morgan Matson seems to write books specifically for summer. Last year I read Since You’ve Been Gone  and it was an enjoyable read. Continue reading “Summer TBR”
