Collective Book Haul

Collective Book Haul

I haven’t done a book haul since January but that doesn’t mean I haven’t bought any books because I have and there are a few to get through.¬†So, let’s get straight into the haul.

I have linked titles to goodreads for you, so if you want to know more it is just a click away. ūüôā

The Past by Tessa Hadley

  • I love books about family dynamics and The Past is about three sisters and a brother who¬†meet up at their grandparent’s place to spend the summer and to decide if they are going to keep it or sell. The house brings childhood memories to the surface of a time they stayed there after their mother left their father.

WWW // Wednesday February 28, 2018

WWW Wednesday is hosted by Sam from Taking on a World of Words. It is a great way to keep¬†you all updated on what I am currently reading and my thoughts so far.¬†It is also nice to check¬†what other people are reading. ¬†If you would like to participate, all you have to do is answer three easy questions and link it to Sam’s post.

What are you currently reading?

www-Wednesday-February-28I¬†just started¬†listening to Mrs. Sinclair’s Suitcase¬† yesterday and am only 2.5 hours into it, so, I don’t have many thoughts yet. This is a WWII novel with dual timeline which I am always a big fan of.

WWW Wednesday February 28, 2018I started Russian Winter at the beginning of February and lost interest in it but I picked it back up this week and am half way through it and hopefully will have it finished by Sunday. Its slow going but I do want to continue on reading and find out the connection between two of the characters.

WWW Wednesday February 28, 2018

I am still reading The Heart’s Invisible Furies, not because I am not enjoying it¬†because I am, I didn’t read very much last week and¬†when I¬†did I have been focusing on reading the Russian Winter instead. There are just soo many books I want to read.

What did you recently finish reading?

WWW Wednesday February 28, 2018I finished listening to Fly Away on Monday and loved it.

What do you think you will read next?

WWW Wednesday February 28, 2018

I meant to read Homegoing in February for this Goodreads bookclub but never got around it. I do want to read it because I heard nothing but great things and it is also a library book so, have to return by the 10th.

Please leave a comment with your WWW and I will check out your post. ūüôā

July Wrap Up

July Wrap Up

Hello and welcome to my July wrap up, I am so sad that July is over, it went by too fast. It seems like Summer had¬†a late start where I live and then next thing you know it is going to be over. ūüė• The other day this guy at work was singing a Christmas song! I don’t even want to think about Christmas yet, it’s too soon.

I finished¬†eight books in July and am well on my way to completing my Goodreads challenge of reading 70 books. I only read three books from my Summer TBR and now have nine books left. I don’t see myself actually completing them all in August but more likely finish in September.

The Girls by Emma Cline

July Wrap Up
When I first¬†bought¬†this book up I thought it was going to more psychological but then I found out it is more of a coming of age story and I was slightly disappointed but I do like coming of age stories so, I was like yeah I can get down with that. Turns out I couldn’t and¬†was let down by this book.

2 Stars

Those Girls by Chevy Stevens

July Wrap Up
After reading Pretty Girls by Karin Slaughter in June I was in the mood for a thriller and have also been meaning to read another book by Chevy Stevens so, thought I would kill two birds with one stone. ;P I did a review for Those Girls  click the link to know more of my thoughts.

3.5 Stars

Into The Water by Paula Hawkins

July Wrap Up
I had high expectations for¬†Hawkins new book and I think I might have built it up too much because I didn’t love it as much as I thought I would. The plot twist at the end I expected I even said I knew it. I do want to do a review for this

Don’t You Cry by Mary Kubica¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†

I didn’t love this one as much as I thought I would because I did love The Good Girl by Mary Kubica. This one was a bit slower for me to get into but I did like how it all came together at the end.

3.5 Stars

Cruel Beauty by Rosamund Hodge

July Wrap Up
I finally finished Cruel Beauty it has been on my TBR forever and I tried reading it last year but DNF it. I did understand it  better the second time going in and I liked it ok.

2.5 Stars

Everything Leads to You by Nina LaCour

July Wrap Up
I read this as part of the Summer Biannual Bibliothon for the challenge read a LGBQT+ book. A perfect summer read, I really enjoyed reading Everything Leads to You. A little bit of mystery, great friendship and some romance. I really liked the behind the scenes look at what goes into set design for a movie.

4 Stars

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver

July Wrap Up
Another book I read for the Bibliothon to complete challenge read a book to movie adaptation. Before I fall was ok but I just felt it was a little long and ended up getting bored with it, I really had to force myself to get through it. I also wasn’t a big fan of the ending.

2 Stars

The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain

July Wrap Up
The last book I read for the Bibliothon, read a banned book. I really enjoyed reading about¬†Huck’s adventures. I think this is a great piece of literature about friendship and racism. I will definitely be reading this one again.

4.5 Stars

There you have it all the books I finished in July. What books did you finish in July?

Birthday Book Haul

Birthday Book Haul

My boyfriend took me book shopping for my birthday and I picked up 16 books, all at a great price. Seriously, the best present a booklover could get. ūüėÄ And even better Chapters was having a plum points bonus promotion going on, where if you bought 5 books you would get 4,500 points which equals to $10 . I now have $50 in points and I’m am close to the $100 mark so, I am not going to redeem them just yet. Anyways lets get on to the books…

Jane Eyre By Charlotte Bronte

The Ambassadors and The Turn of the Shrew Henry James

Birthday Book Haul

They had a small selection of these Arcturus classic editions at 3 for 10. I was happy to see that they still had a few of these floating around because I like how each of the books are similar with the circle, colourful and the graphics.

Persuasion by Jane Austen, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Beast of No Nation by Uzodinma Iweala

Birthday Book Haul

Again these three books were part of the 3 for 10 and I figured this was a good way to get 5 book for cheap to get my plum points.

Rose Under Fire by Elizabeth Wein

This is the second book in the Code Name Verity Duology. I haven’t read the first one yet but this was only $6 and in hardcover so I had to pick it up and I will eventually read it. This series is a historical fiction set during WWII and follows a girl fighter pilot.

Birthday Book Haul

The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall

I heard great things about The Conspiracy of Us and found it for only $6. It is about a secret society called the circle who are the world elite. Which is giving me Illuminate vibes. Sounds like it will be an interesting read.

Daughter of Deep Silence by Carrie Ryan

Birthday Book Haul

This is a book about revenge and was cheap, so thought I would pick it up. It is about a girl who wants to get revenge for the death of her family.

Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare

Birthday Book Haul

This was on sale for 40% off and even thought I haven’t read Lady Midnight, I know that I will eventually buy it and so figured might as well buy Lord of Shadows while it is on sale.

The Alice Network by Kate Quinn

For some reason this book reminds me of The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah and that is the main reason why I picked it up.

The Alice Network is a dual time line set in WWI and WWII and is about a female spy who is part of the Alice Network in France. I plan on reading this very soon.

Birthday Book Haul

A Dangerous Inheritance by Alison Weir

Found this book in the bargain section for $8 and is about Katherine Grey and Kate Plantagenet and also about the mystery sounding the two Prince’s in the tower. I love reading about the Tudor history and hope this will be a great read.

The Winter People by Jennifer McMahon

I’ve really been in to reading thrillers lately and I found a couple in the bargain section. Which is pretty much where I do all my book shopping.

The Winter People is about Ruthie and her family as they just moved to an old farmhouse in Vermont. The farmhouse has a tragic past because in 1908 Sara Harrison Shea was found dead on the property. After Ruhie’s mom goes missing she finds Sara’s diary and gets sucked into the mystery of Sara’s death.

Birthday Book Haul

All Is Not Forgotten by Wendy Walker

A psychological thriller about a girl, Jenny Kramer, who gets attacked at a party but can’t remember anything after she is given a drug that erases the memory of the attack. This sounds interesting and is going to be made into a movie.

Keep You Close by Lucie Whitehouse

Keep You Close is also a psychological thriller that follows Rowan Winter as she tries to uncover the truth behind her friend, Marianne Glass’s, death.

Birthday Book Haul

Every Last Lie by Mary Kubica

This is the latest novel from Mary Kubica and I really enjoyed The Good Girl and Don’t You Cry by her and can’t wait to read this one.

Clara Solberg’s daughter survives a car crash that killed her husband and is believed to be a accident but her daughter begins having night terrors that leads her to think it might not have been an accident.

There you have it all the 16 of the books I picked out for my birthday gift.

June Book Haul

June Book Haul

I ended picking up a few used books and e-books this month, nothing too crazy. Well, okay, maybe I went a little crazy and downloaded several free e-books. I am not going to go into much detail with the e-books because they pretty much are all new adult. I will leave links to goodreads so you can read more about them.

Lets start off with the list of e-books I downloaded this month.

The List by Kate L. Mary

Drawn to You by Brooke Page

If I Break by Portia Moore

Holding out by Lila Rose

Chasing Beautiful by Pamela Ann

Addicted to You by Krista Richie, Becca Ritchie

What the CEO Wants You to Know by Ram Charan

The Money Game by Adam Smith

Don’t You Cry by Mary Kubica¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†

I did download this for $2 and have since read it and thought it was good but I did like The Good Girl better.¬†Don’t You Cry is about a girl, Esther,¬†that goes missing and her roommate Quinn is left to find answers. It also follows the perspective of a teenager,¬†Alex, who befriends a mysterious girl that shows up at the coffee shop he works at.

They were having a used book sale at a local mall and so, of course I had to stop by and check it out. I did find four books I liked¬†not as many as I was hoping for but there wasn’t much of a good selection. These four books are in pretty good condition and came to a whopping¬†$6 dollars. June Wrap Up

June Wrap Up

Welcome to my June Wrap Up ūüôā

I can’t believe it is July already! Where does the time go? I feel like every year it just goes by quicker than the previous one. Anybody else feel that way? I am so ready for July mostly because Game of Thrones finally comes out. I am a huge fan of that show and need to know what going to happen. Any ways lets get on with it, in June I read 8 books and I have to say I did a good job with sticking to the books I wanted to read.
