June PageHabit Unboxing

June PageHabit Unboxing

I am so excited to share with you the very first PageHabit Historical Fiction box.  This subscription box was created when Bookly Box and Quarterly CO. Literary merged and so you get elements of both those subscription boxes in one. I thought this was a great idea and knew I had to subscribe to this book box.

Pagehabit still has the Quarterly boxes, Young Adult and Literary, that is curated by the featured author but now they have a monthly box as well. The monthly boxes come in seven different genres Literary, Young Adult, Fantasy, Romance, Mystery, Horror and Historical Fiction. It was tough choice but I went with Historical Fiction because it is my favourite genre.

The book featured in June’s PageHabit box was The Underground River by Martha Conway. I was so happy when I found out that this was going to be June’s book because I read a great review over on Annie’s blog called The Misstery. Which I will leave a link for you to go and read her review of The Floating Theatre. The Title is difference but it is the same book.

The Underground River is set in 1838 and the Ohio River is used as a backdrop for this historical fiction. May Bedloe find employment on a theatre flatboat while working there she helps ferry unwanted babies of slaves to freedom. Sounds so good and can’t wait to read.

Other things that were included in this months box was a letter from the author, bookmark, page flags. bookish pin and pouch. I have since made use of these bookish goodies and love them. In my opinion you can never have too many bookmarks or page flags. 🙂

PageHabit Unboxing

Another great thing about PageHabit is each month they will make a literary donation to a country in need. And this month’s donations will go to Zambia.

I recommend the PageHabit subscription box if your looking for a monthly book box. I do believe it is worth the price and shipping costs. Did anyone else get a PageHabit box and if so what genre did you get?

To get your own PageHabit Box head over to their website and check it out. 😀 Pagehabit.com

June Book Haul

June Book Haul

I ended picking up a few used books and e-books this month, nothing too crazy. Well, okay, maybe I went a little crazy and downloaded several free e-books. I am not going to go into much detail with the e-books because they pretty much are all new adult. I will leave links to goodreads so you can read more about them.

Lets start off with the list of e-books I downloaded this month.

The List by Kate L. Mary

Drawn to You by Brooke Page

If I Break by Portia Moore

Holding out by Lila Rose

Chasing Beautiful by Pamela Ann

Addicted to You by Krista Richie, Becca Ritchie

What the CEO Wants You to Know by Ram Charan

The Money Game by Adam Smith

Don’t You Cry by Mary Kubica

I did download this for $2 and have since read it and thought it was good but I did like The Good Girl better. Don’t You Cry is about a girl, Esther, that goes missing and her roommate Quinn is left to find answers. It also follows the perspective of a teenager, Alex, who befriends a mysterious girl that shows up at the coffee shop he works at.

They were having a used book sale at a local mall and so, of course I had to stop by and check it out. I did find four books I liked not as many as I was hoping for but there wasn’t much of a good selection. These four books are in pretty good condition and came to a whopping $6 dollars. Quarterly Literary Unboxing

Quarterly Literary Unboxing

I always enjoy watching book subscription unboxing videos on YouTube but I never had much desire to subscribe to a monthly book box myself. I am Canadian and I didn’t think that after the conversion of the dollar from USD to CDN plus shipping costs would be worth it. I would rather spend that money on buying several books that I know what I am getting and don’t feel the need for all that bookish goodies. That changed when I watched some quarterly unboxing videos and decided I would try it out and see how I liked it.

Quarterly Co. Literary Box

Quarterly Subscription box is not a monthly subscription but like the name suggest it is quarterly. They have several different types of boxes like food, fitness, DIY and of course books. They offer two types of book boxes fiction and YA fiction. I debated for a while on what box I was going to get because I like adult and ya fiction but in the end I opted for the fiction box. April Book Haul

April Book Haul

It’s the end of May and this should have been posted at the beginning of the month but I guess better late than never. I shouldn’t even have bought books in April since I bought so many in March. Check out my March Book Haul if you missed it. At least I didn’t go over board, I only acquired seven books. Two books I wasn’t expecting to receive until May but my pre-order came early which was exciting. I also received one book as a gift from my niece.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

When I came home from work one day this package was waiting for me at my door and when I opened it was ACOWAR and King’s Cage. I was super excited to get my hands on this early even though I still have yet to read it.

I pre-ordered this book back in January and then in April I was looking on Chapters again and noticed that they had this exclusive Indigo edition with fan art on the end pages. So I had to get that edition instead and cancelled my first order and ended up getting this exclusive edition for cheaper than if I had order the other copy.

March Book Haul

In March I broke down and bought so many books, 45 to be exact. I was trying not to buy books until I had read 50 books. Then BookOutlet was having a sale plus free shipping and I couldn’t resist. I now probably have 200 books that are unread on my shelves. Gulp. One day I will read them all, one day. After this I think I am going to have to go on a book buying ban.

January Book Haul

Hello Book Lovers,

I didn’t actually buy any books in January, these are the books that I purchased from BookOutlet for the Boxing Day sale but I didn’t receive them until January and since I am not purchasing books for a while I figured I would wait to haul them until now. I ended up purchasing 18 books, I will try to make this post short. So lets just get on with the book haul. Continue reading “January Book Haul”

December Book Haul

December Book Haul

I was on BookOutlet strolling through my wish-list, not looking to buy anything right away but just planning on what I wanted to get for the Boxing Day Sale and I noticed they had Winter by Marissa Meyer in-stock. Last time I waited to get Winter just before a sale on BookOutlet and they ended up being sold out by that time. So, I didn’t want a repeat of that happening and so I made an order.

Winter by Marissa Meyer

December Book Haul

Winter is the fourth and final book in the Lunar Chronicles and I love this series. They are entertaining and have such wonderful characters. The Lunar Chronicles are retellings of fairy tales, Winter being a retelling of Snow White.  I can’t wait to start reading Winter and see how the book ends. Continue reading “December Book Haul”
