Its been a few months since I have posted a blog but I do want to start getting back into it. And even though I have never been consistent with my blog this last half of the year I have been slaking hard. When I seen this post on Kristin Kraves Books I thought this would be a good post to do to start blogging again. So, thanks Kristin for encouraging me to do this post. 🙂
I hope everyone is having a great Saturday, mine has not gone as planned but what can you do it happens. While I was writing this post I realized I forgot to take a photo for question four and now the lighting is not as great as the other pics.
I seen the How I Choose My Book tag on Charlotte Annalise blog and thought it would be a fun and easy tag to do. The book tag was created by The Bookish Underdog. I would suggest checking out there posts as well. 😀
1. Find a book on your shelves with a blue cover. What made you pick up the book in the first place?
It is hard to pick just one for this because there are so many books with a blue cover. I pretty much have an entire shelf dedicated to my blue books. I picked up Gretel and the Dark by Eliza Granville on BookOutlet and when I came across this cover I knew I had to have it. I did also read the synopsis and it sounds like something I would be into.
2. Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy but did. Why did you read it in the first place?
I was not expecting to like Red Queen because I heard some mixed things about it. The reason why I picked it up was because of the cover. It was on display at Chapters for $15 and I was like yes please. I also picked up the second in the series Glass Sword.
3. Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick up a book at random. How did you discover this book?
The random book I chose was The Lifeboat by Charlotte Rogan. I discovered this book while browsing BookOutlet and the synopsis sounded interesting, so I added it to my cart. I have yet to read it but I will one day.
4. Pick a book that someone personally recommended to you. What did you think of it?
My boss from my old work recommended and lent me her copy of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. I loved this book and the other two in the series.
5. Pick a book you discovered through book blogs. Did it live up to the hype?
I picked two books for this one that lived up to the hype and one that did not live up to the hype. I really enjoyed Cinder by Marissa Meyer and I thought it was a great re-telling of Cinderella. For me A Court of Thorns and Roses did not live up to the hype. Not sure if I just had to high of expectations but I found it to be slow and hard to get through.
6. Find a book on your shelves with a one word title. What drew you to this book?
The beautiful cover is what drew me to this book and the blurb on the front. I am a fan of The Help and so I decided to get this book. I have read it and thought it was also a beautiful story and recommend reading it.
7. What book did you discover through a film/TV adaptation?
There are a few options that I could have went with for this question but I decided to go with The Secret Life of Bees because I just loved this book and the movie. I highly recommend for you to pick this book up and watch the movie.
8. Think of your all-time favourite books. When did you read these and why did you pick them up in the first place?
I am not quite sure when I read these but I have read Little Women and The White Queen several times. I picked up Little Women because of the movie when I was younger I wanted to be Jo March. I picked up The White Queen because Philippa Gregory is an auto-buy author. I probably read The Outcast when it first came out and I heard about on LaineyGossip. I read The Book Thief several years ago and I am not sure why I picked it up I bought it through Kobo. I loved it and want to re-read it now that I have this beautiful copy.
And that is the end of the how I choose my books, book tag. I think what we mostly learned from this tag is that I choose my books by how they look. This however, does not come as a shock to me. Lol How do you choose your books? Let me know in the comments below.
I am obsessed with GOT and since the latest season is almost over I thought this would be a great tag to do. Have you guys been watching the latest season? I am loving it so much and the last episode had the best plot twist at the end but now I am so scared for everyone. I can’t believe there is only one more episode left. 😥 I just want it to never end.
Anyways I seen this tag in my news feed but I couldn’t remember who’s blog it was or who started it. Each question is from a Game of Thrones Family House and their motto.
HOUSE LANNISTER: HEAR ME ROAR – Name a book that you originally loved, but upon a re-read realized that it wasn’t so great after all
Nothing comes to mind and I don’t re-read many books. The ones I have re-read I enjoyed just as much as the first time. Continue reading “Game of Thrones Book Tag”
Yesterday was my birthday and I am officially 30 years old/young! To celebrate this milestone I thought it would be fun to do the Birthday Book Tag.
1. Count your Birthday along your bookshelf and then subtract your birthday month.
I landed on The Outcast by Sadie Jones and I have read this book around the time it was released back in 2008 and loved it. It is one of my favourite books of all time. I have been wanting to re-read this book and now I think I might sooner rather than later. Continue reading “The Birthday Book Tag”
I thought it would be fun to do a tag and after looking through many book tag options I decided on the Aesthetically Pleasing Book Tag. As book lovers I think we can appreciate the beauty of books and I am definitely guilty of buying books because they are aesthetically pleasing to my eye.
1. Best Colour Combo on a Book Cover
Blue is my favourite colour and so, of course the book I choose has blue on the cover. The Nest is this beautiful robin’s egg blue with elements of gold which makes for a lovely colour combo and all-around stunning cover.
It is starting to feel like spring where I am from and I thought it would be a perfect time to do a spring related book tag. There was only one springtime book tag I could find and that is the I Love Spring Book Tag, so, without further ado let’s get on with the tag.
1) How is Spring where you live?
I live in Southwestern Ontario and Spring has been a mix of everything so far. We have had nice warm days, crazy rainstorms and even some snow. It mostly has been chilly and cloudy.
There are a few books that are being released this spring that I am quite excited for and have even pre-ordered. There are six books that are being released this spring that I am looking forward to.
I have read three books by Lisa See and have enjoyed them all and I am excited for this one. The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane has already been released and it came out March 21st. I have yet to pick it up but hope to do that soon.
The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane is about the bond between mother and daughter. When Li-Yan becomes pregnant out of wedlock she abandons her baby at the nearest city. Years later Li-Yan longs for her daughter and the daughter, Hailey, yearns to know where she came from. They both go searching for answers. Continue reading “Most Anticipated Spring Releases”
