October seems to be the month for read-a-thons, I would love to particitpate in them all but that would just not work and most likely end up burning out and result in the dreaded reading slump. So, I have chosen only one to do and that is the sbooktacular created by Jasmine from novelthoughts.co. This read-a-thon start tomorrow Oct. 25 and ends Oct. 31.
The reason why I went with Sbooktacular is because it is a choose your own adventure this way you pick what challenges you want and fit the books you own. From the pictures you would think I would have went with the witch path but no, I have chosen the skeleton path. 😛
1. Read a book of your choice
I am going with The Good Daughter by Karin Slaughter because I have already started this. I have only read 70 pages into it so I still have many pages to read as there are 515 pages.
2. Read a book set in the past
I decided on The Fire of Autumn by Irene Nemirovsky. This book is set in 1912 through 1944 in France. This isn’t a very long book so it shouldn’t take long to get through.
3. Read a book from a non-human perspective
I have been meaning to re-read Interview with the Vampire by Anne Rice for quite sometime and also continue with the other books in the series. So I figured this would be the perfect time to do that. As you might have gathered this is told from a vampires perspective.
4. Read a book with a black cover
I wanted to read Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde close to Halloween and so I knew I would have to make it fit for one of these challenges. There isn’t a lot of black on this cover but it is definitely there.
5. Read a book in one day
I picked two for this one is Fierce Kingdom by Gin Phillips and The Turn of the Screw by Henry James. Fierce Kingdom has 275 pages and is a thriller and is set throughout one day. And so I think I can read it in one day. And if not then I will read The Turn of the Screw which is very short at a 144 pages.
6. Read a book with a time word in the title
I hope to finish Mr. Penumbra’s 24-hour bookstore by Robin Sloan to complete this challenge.
7. Read a crime book
Christine Falls by Benjamin Black has been on past read-a-thon TBRs but never completed the challenge. I hope the sbooktacular read-a-thon is when I can finally conquer this book.
I am going to read like a mad women over the next week, nothing is going to get done. haha I want to complete all the challenges to get to the end of the path. Anyone else planning on participating in this read-a-thon? Let me know what team you plan on going with. Any Sbooky Skeletons out there?
