I thought it would be fun to do a tag and after looking through many book tag options I decided on the Aesthetically Pleasing Book Tag. As book lovers I think we can appreciate the beauty of books and I am definitely guilty of buying books because they are aesthetically pleasing to my eye.
1. Best Colour Combo on a Book Cover
Blue is my favourite colour and so, of course the book I choose has blue on the cover. The Nest is this beautiful robin’s egg blue with elements of gold which makes for a lovely colour combo and all-around stunning cover.
2. The Best Typography/Font on a Book Cover
I like Paula Hawkins typography on her books but Into The Water is my favourite of the two. I love that it is bold and takes up the whole cover. I also love that it has this ripple effect that imitates water. Overall, this book cover is beautiful.
3. Best Simple Cover
I love the simplicity of these editions of the millenium trilogy. I love the bright colours chosen and how they use an image from the title, like an image of a dragon for The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. I love that the image is small as well as the font. I also like how they use the image to show what number it is in the series, like with The Girl who Played with Fire is the second in the series so it has two images of flames.
4. Best End Pages
For this one I chose two books because I just couldn’t decide and they have the same idea for end pages. FanGirl by Rainbow Rowell and ACOWAR by Sarah J. Maas both have fan art for their end pages and they are beautiful. I just love them so much.
5. Best Map
I haven’t actually read Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo but this was my favourite map after looking through all my fantasy books. I love the detail of the map and the dark imagery. It’s very well done.
6. Best Naked Hardback
I am going with the obvious choice for this and that would be Heartless by Marissa Meyer. This cover is so beautiful naked. I love the red and black checker board look. Also, I just finished this book and have to say Marissa Meyer is very creative.
7. Best Back Cover
I couldn’t think of one for this off-hand but after looking through my bookshelves The Alchemist was the clear winner. I love the colours and the sun and moon combo. I also like how there is a quote from the book.
8. Best Chapter Heading
I am going with a childhood favourite for this one and that is The Chronicles of Narnia. In this edition there are illustrations at the beginning of each chapter.
9. Best Illustrations
I don’t have many books with illustrations in them and the only book that I could think of is Coraline by Neil Gaiman. The illustrations in this book are creepy just like the book.
10. Best Spine
I couldn’t do a aesthetically pleasing book tag without mentioning these penguin classic editions of F. Scott Fitzgerald works. I only have The Great Gatsby and The Last tycoon but I want to get the rest of his books in these beautiful editions.
11. Favourite Covers on Your Shelves
For this one I am going with the Red Queen series by Victoria Aveyard. I can’t get over how stunning they are and they are displayed on my shelf like art.
That is it for this tag and I hoped you liked all the pretty books I shared.
Your book shelf is goals!
