April Book Haul

It’s the end of May and this should have been posted at the beginning of the month but I guess better late than never. I shouldn’t even have bought books in April since I bought so many in March. Check out my March Book Haul if you missed it. At least I didn’t go over board, I only acquired seven books. Two books I wasn’t expecting to receive until May but my pre-order came early which was exciting. I also received one book as a gift from my niece.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. Maas

When I came home from work one day this package was waiting for me at my door and when I opened it was ACOWAR and King’s Cage. I was super excited to get my hands on this early even though I still have yet to read it.

I pre-ordered this book back in January and then in April I was looking on Chapters again and noticed that they had this exclusive Indigo edition with fan art on the end pages. So I had to get that edition instead and cancelled my first order and ended up getting this exclusive edition for cheaper than if I had order the other copy.

King’s Cage by Victoria Aveyard

I ordered this along with A Court of Wings and Ruin, it was on sale at Chapters for $14 and couldn’t pass that up. I absolutely love the covers for this series. When I opened up this book I was happy to see a map finally, one of my complaints about this series is they didn’t have a map.

The King’s Cage is the third book in the Red Queen series and it is a dystopian/fantasy. The world is divided by blood either you are a silver blood (high-class) or red blood (low-class), Mare Barrow is a red blood but she discovers that she has a dormant power that thrusts her into the world of the silver bloods.

Golden Son by Pierce Brown

I was so excited when I seen this book in the bargain section at Chapters for $10. I already have the first and third book in this trilogy and have been waiting to come across this second one for cheap. Now I have the complete Red Rising series and hopefully will get to it soon.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer

My niece gave this book to me after I had told her how I had lent my copy to her mother and she (my niece) ended up getting a hold of it and destroyed it. My niece  has two complete sets of the series so she wanted to give her extra copy to me. So, I now have the complete series again and would love to re-read it someday.

All The Birds In The Sky by Charlie Jane Anders

April Book Haul

While browsing through the bargain section at Chapters I came across this book and the cover is beautiful and for $6 I had to have it.

This book sounds interesting but weird at the same time it is about these two old friends, Patricia Delfine and Laurence Armstead, and how they meet again after ten years. Patricia is magically gifted and Laurence is an engineering genius and together they are drawn into the war between magic and science. Very intriguing.

Salt Sugar Fat: How the Food Giants Hooked Us by Michael Moss

I picked this book up to learn about sugar for a report for school about sugar and I have since read this book and found it very informative and highly recommend reading.

When I was at Chapters and I had this book in hand still browsing one of the workers there came up to me and told me how this book changed his life. He said he used to be  overweight and after reading this book he became vegan and now lives a healthy lifestyle. I thought that was amazing and I agree this book has opened my eyes to the food industry. I already am vegan and have been for a few years but I have decided to stay away from packaged foods as much as possible.

Good Prose: The Art Of Nonfiction by Tracy Kidder & Richard Todd

Since, having a blog I am always on the quest to improve my writing skills and hopefully this book will help. It was also in the bargain section at Chapters, have I mentioned how much I love the bargain section at Chapters. I pretty much only shop in the bargain section, I am frugal and don’t like to pay full price for books.

That is all for this book haul and I hope you enjoyed reading.

  1. Ah nice! (I’m jealous!) I bought Twilight a few months ago, but meh, I listen to people’s distraught problems over the book, blogging, on a daily basis, so it isn’t exactly at the top of my tbr despite that I own it. I mean, it’s not like I haven’t heard positive things about Twilight, plus I want to watch the movies (and you know how it goes, ALWAYS book before movie) so that means I kinda have to read the book. I was still pretty young when the movies came out. By the way, I love the name of your blog! :))

    1. Twilight isn’t the greatest piece of literature but I find it addictive and its definitely a guilty pleasure read. Just don’t go into it thinking it is a profound piece of writing and enjoy it for what it is, a paranormal romance. 🙂 ……Thanks that means a lot!
