Christmas Book Haul

Hello, I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas. Today, I am going to share the books I bought at Chapters with the gift card I received for Christmas. Chapters was having their annual sale, 30% off all Hardcovers. I ended up getting 4 hardcovers 30% off and the rest of my books were from the bargain book section, my favourite section at Chapters.

The Book Thief by Markus Zusak

Christmas Book Haul

I have read this book before but I don’t own a physical copy, just the e-version. I love this book and it is one of my all time favourite books. They came out with this Special Anniversary Edition this year and have been wanting it since then. They didn’t have any copies left at the two stores near me so I had to travel across the city to get this but was happy to do it because it is such a beautiful edition. I look forward to rereading this book next year.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell

I read my  first Rowell book, Eleanor and Park, last year and quite enjoyed it and Fangirl seems to be everyone’s favourite. I have had my eye on this copy for a while, it has beautiful fan art on the end papers, so I was happy that I was able to pick this up for 30% off.

A Court of Mist and Fury by Sarah J. Maas

Christmas Book Haul

This is another book that I have been dying to get my hands on, everyone seems to be obsessed with this book and I need to know what the fuss is about. I have the first book in this series, A Court of Thorns and Roses, and I have been waiting to read it until I bought this one. I will definitely reading this next month.

Three Sisters Three Queens by Philippa Gregory

Christmas Book Haul

This is Philippa’s newest book that came out in August and is about Sibling Rivalry. The three sisters being, Queen of Scotts Margaret Tudor, Queen of France Mary Tudor and Katherine of Aragon, Queen of England. I am happy to add this to my Philippa Gregory collection. I probably won’t get to it right away. As I want to read The White Princess first, which is about Elizabeth of York, who was the mother to Margaret and Mary Tudor, I think it would be best to read and finish the Cousins’ war series first.

The Weight of Blood by Laura McHugh

Christmas Book Haul

I already have read and own a copy of this in paperback, but when I seen it at Chapters for only $5 for the hardback, I figured I might as well get it and also I much prefer this cover to the one that I have.

The Weight of Blood is Laura McHugh’s debut novel about Lucy Dane, who begins to uncover the mystery behind the death of her friend Cheri and the connection her death might have to her mothers disappearance. Slowly, and with the help of a local boy, Daniel they unravel dark secrets that have been long-buried.

The Nightmare by Lars Kepler

Christmas Book Haul

I felt very lucky when I seen this book in the bargain section of Chapters for $10. I now have all 5 books in the Joona Linna series and can’t wait to marathon this series. This series is a mystery thriller about detective Joona Linna who solves murders.

Citadel by Kate Mosse

Christmas Book Haul

This is another book I have read and own but I have the mass market paperback and this is the nice floppy paperback edition. This only cost me a few dollars as it was part of the 3 books for $10 deal.

Citadel is a historical fiction with elements of fantasy, set in Carcassonne during the German occupation. Sandrine joins the resistance and gets wrapped up in ancient secrets, that the Germans want to get their hands on.

The Couple Next Door by Shari Lapene

Christmas Book Haul

I love a great psychological thriller and this one seems to be just that. This was on sale for $15 from $25, so a good deal. The Couple Next Door is about a couple, Anne and Marco, are invited to a dinner party hosted by their next door neighbors. When the babysitter cancels last-minute they still decide to go to the party and just check on the baby every half hour. When they go and check on the baby they discover their baby missing. They soon uncover secrets that each of them have been keeping from the other.

The Last Camellia by Sarh Jio

Christmas Book Haul

This was one of the books that I picked up as part of the  3 for 10. I read The Violets of March by Sarah Jio and liked it and have been wanting to read more from her. This story is has dual time lines, one set in 1940 and told from the perspective of Flora and the other set in 2000 and told from the perspective of Addison. I love books with dual timelines and enjoy reading about how their stories connect to each other. The tag line on good reads makes this book sound so good, A romantic and suspenseful tale about two women whose destiny is bound across the years. Can’t wait to read.

Northanger Abbey by Jane Austen

Christmas Book Haul

This is another Arcturus Classic edition and I have to say I just love this cover, all of these editions have beautiful covers but this one is my favourite. I have tried reading some of Jane Austen’s books and have never been able to get into them. I hope now that I am a bit older I might enjoy them now.

That’s all for this book haul and thank you for taking the time to read. What books did you guys receive for Christmas? I would love to know so share them in the comments below. 🙂
